LESSON CREDIT PACKAGES POLICY
Updated: May, 2024
Lesson Credit Packages are available to adult students who require additional flexibility in their lesson scheduling as they continue their music education.
Lessons are offered throughout the Academic Term (September to June) based on the individual teacher calendar.
LESSON CREDIT PACKAGES
There are four different options of lesson credit packages available. See packages...

LESSON CREDIT PAYMENTS, CREDIT USE, and CREDIT EXPIRATION
Lesson credits are for use at the student's discretion to provide a completely flexible lesson schedule. Students are billed according to the payment plan on the Lesson Credit Packages page. This payment plan begins in September or the month of purchase (if after September) and payments are made for sequential months based on the number of payment months indicated for each package. Additional credits are available at any time.

ONE lesson credit may be used per student per calendar week. Remaining credits will be adjusted according to the remaining teaching weeks of the studio year. Any credits above the remaining number of weeks will be removed from the account.
Lesson credits are not refundable. All credits will expire on the last teaching day in June of the current studio year - according to the applicable teacher calendar.

FEE PAYMENTS
Invoices are sent on the 15th of each month with payment due by the 1st of the following month according to the payment plan of the Lesson Credit Package selected.

All RCM exam fees and festival fees are the responsibility of the student.

METHOD OF PAYMENT: Interac email money transfer (kati@learninginharmony.ca) or online payment by credit card

15 DAYS OF NON-PAYMENT WILL RESULT IN DISMISSAL FROM THE STUDIO

LESSON REGISTRATION DEPOSIT
A registration deposit of $100 is required as a non-refundable deposit at the time of registration. This deposit will be applied to the August invoice for the September lesson credit payment.

LESSON DELIVERY OPTIONS
There are two delivery options for Lesson Credit Packages: IN PERSON lessons or VIRTUAL lessons.

HEALTH AND SAFETY PROTOCOLS
By registering for lessons with LIH, each student and family agrees to adhere to the health and safety protocols placed into effect by LIH for community safety purposes.

LESSON CANCELLATIONS
***All cancellations must be made through the online Student Portal***

Any lesson cancelled by the student six (6) hours before the scheduled lesson will result in the lesson credit remaining on account. If the lesson is cancelled less than six hours before the scheduled lesson, the lesson credit will be used. Kindly give as much notice as possible to facilitate rescheduling for other students.

*If the teacher arrives at the student's home and the student is not available for the lesson, the lesson credit will be used.

LESSON SCHEDULING
The method of lesson scheduling is at the discretion of the teacher. Lessons may be scheduled at a regular time if the student is available at a regular time. Or lessons may be scheduled by the student through the online Student Portal.
VIRTUAL LESSON DELIVERY
Learning in Harmony reserves the right to shift to virtual lesson delivery at any time during the studio year. Depending on the determining factor, this may be for one lesson day, a series of indicated lesson days, or a temporary full-time shift to virtual lessons.

INCLEMENT WEATHER
Virtual lessons will be implemented in ALL cases of inclement weather as determined by the OSTA (Ottawa School Transportation Authority). If the OSTA cancels school buses, lessons will AUTOMATICALLY be shifted to a virtual format. This process ensures the safety of our teachers during inclement weather while ensuring that students do not miss a lesson. If the virtual lesson is declined by the student, a Student RUBATO lesson will be applied.

ARRIVAL TIMES/TEACHER CANCELLATION
Punctuality is very important to us. However, especially for in-person lessons, there can be extenuating circumstances including traffic, construction, and unexpected inclement weather. Due to these (and other) variables, lessons may begin within a 15 minute window after the given lesson start time. Lessons will still be given for the full lesson period assigned whenever possible, though we do reserve the right to cancel lessons as necessary.

If the teacher expects to be more than 15 minutes late for the lesson, an email notification will be sent.

In the rare case of cancellation due to severe weather, teacher illness, or family emergency, we will strive to notify you as early as possible.
DISCONTINUING LESSONS
Every student stops taking lessons at some point in their music career whether it is 1 year, 5 years, or 20 years into music lessons. Ideally, this decision is made thoughtfully with plenty of discussion between the teacher, parent, and student so that lessons can end on a positive note.

2 weeks notice in writing (via email) is required prior to discontinuing lessons.
